Hope everyone has had a good week - its been a busy week here talking to companies about some exciting projects. Here’s our take from the social media articles we’ve read this week:

Summify is a clever social news summary platform that works out what news is important to you based on what you and your friends read. It collates information, tweets and shares from friends and people you are connected to and summarises the results into an email and an optional tweet. Since being acquired by Twitter, Summify has closed down any new sign-ups to the site but is continuing to offer, for the moment at least, some limited services.
Twitter acquired Tweetdeck in the middle of 2011 and has since made some changes to the third party platform which has changed the site for me- making it less user friendly. So I’m now wondering what changes they‘re going to make to Summify? In the meantime I’ve been looking at other social news summary tools.

The Christmas and New Year holiday break has given us the opportunity to investigate some new social media tools and apps and here are our top 4 recommendations:
Flipboard released its iPhone app last month. The new app lets you arrange formal news feeds (BBC, Telegraph) along with posts from the main social networks into one social magazine where you can access everything in one place. Making it easy to read and share information via Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn.
Flipboard have included some very useful guides to help you get the most out of the app. However, the one thing that’s missing at the moment for me is that there’s no facility yet to manage a business account alongside a personal account on Flipboard.
Pinterest has been around for a couple of months and has already received plenty of interest and sign ups. It’s a networking site where you can share and organise images and videos onto customised boards. You can create a board for any topic and share them with followers or across Twitter and Facebook.
